If you're preparing for your first Reiki session with us at Inner Focus Healing Energy—whether in person or virtually—we're so glad you're here! We know that trying something new can bring up questions, so we'd like to share what you can expect when you work with us.


What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle Japanese energy healing practice that we're passionate about sharing with our community. During your session, we channel universal life energy to promote healing and balance throughout your body. This beautiful energy naturally flows to wherever you need it most, helping to clear blockages and restore harmony within you. One of the most remarkable aspects of Reiki is that this healing energy transcends physical distance, making it equally powerful whether we're working with you in person or connecting with you virtually.


Your Session With Us

For In-Person Sessions: When you arrive at our healing space, you'll be invited to lie down fully clothed on our comfortable massage table, or if you prefer, you can sit in a chair—whatever feels best for you. We'll gently place our hands lightly on or just above different areas of your body, including your head, shoulders, stomach, and feet.

For Virtual Sessions: From the comfort of your own home, you'll find a peaceful space where you can lie down on your bed or couch, or sit comfortably in a chair. We'll connect with you via video to begin, and then you'll simply relax as we send Reiki energy to you from a distance. Many clients choose to close their eyes and rest during this time. You might want to have a blanket nearby and create a calming environment with soft lighting or gentle music.

Whether in person or virtual, your session will typically last between 45 minutes to an hour, giving you plenty of time to relax and receive.


What You Might Experience

Every person's experience is unique, and we honor that. Many of our clients—both in person and virtual—report feeling deeply relaxed, with sensations of warmth or gentle tingling during their treatment. Some experience emotional releases or vivid imagery—all of this is perfectly normal and part of your healing journey. You may be surprised to find that the sensations and benefits of virtual Reiki sessions are just as profound as in-person treatments.

We want to be clear that while we believe deeply in the power of Reiki, it's a complementary therapy that works beautifully alongside—not in place of—traditional medical treatment. We're here to support your overall well-being as part of your complete wellness approach.

What Happens During Your Reiki Session With Us?


When You First Arrive (or Connect)

For In-Person Sessions: When you come to Inner Focus Healing Energy, we'll start by sitting down together for a brief conversation. We want to understand your needs and hear about any specific concerns you're experiencing. This helps us tailor your session to support your unique energy and health goals—because your journey is personal to you.

For Virtual Sessions: We'll begin by connecting via video call so we can see and speak with each other. Just like our in-person sessions, we'll take time for a conversation to understand your needs and any specific concerns you're experiencing. This personal connection helps us tailor your distance session to support your unique energy and health goals—because your journey is personal to you, no matter where you are.


Creating Your Healing Space

For In-Person Sessions: We'll invite you to lie down or sit in whatever position feels most comfortable for you. Our treatment room is designed to be a peaceful sanctuary, with soft music or gentle nature sounds to help you settle into relaxation. During your session, we'll gently place our hands on or near your body in a series of positions, holding each placement for several minutes. Our touch is light and non-invasive, designed to facilitate the natural flow of healing energy through you.

For Virtual Sessions: We'll guide you to create your own healing sanctuary in your home. Find a comfortable place to lie down or sit—your bed, couch, or favorite chair all work beautifully. You might want to play soft music or nature sounds, dim the lights, and have a blanket nearby. Once you're settled and comfortable, we'll begin sending Reiki energy to you from a distance. While we won't be physically touching you, we'll be working with the same hand positions and intention, channeling healing energy directly to you. The energy knows exactly where to go and what you need.


Your Unique Experience

You might notice sensations such as warmth, coolness, or a gentle pulsing as the energy moves through you—whether you're with us in person or receiving distance healing. Many of our clients feel waves of deep relaxation, and some even drift off to sleep—which is perfectly wonderful! It's completely normal to experience a range of feelings, and we want you to know that each session can be different. There's no "right" way to experience Reiki, and many people are surprised to discover that virtual sessions feel just as powerful and tangible as in-person treatments.


After Your Session

Once we complete your treatment, we'll reconnect (or continue our conversation if in person) to share any impressions or guidance we received during your time together. We'll also encourage you to drink plenty of water and take time to rest afterward, which helps your body integrate the healing energy you've received.

We recommend wearing comfortable, loose, breathable clothing that allows you to relax fully during your session. It's also helpful to eat lightly beforehand—this can prevent any discomfort while you're resting and receiving treatment.

For In-Person Sessions: If possible, arrive a few minutes early to give yourself time to settle in, take a few deep breaths, and mentally prepare for your healing experience in our peaceful treatment space.

For Virtual Sessions: Create a quiet, comfortable space in your home where you won't be disturbed. You might want to lie down on your bed or couch, or sit in a comfortable chair. Consider dimming the lights, lighting a candle, or playing soft music to create a healing atmosphere. Make sure your device is positioned so we can connect easily at the beginning of your session, then settle in and allow yourself to relax.

Before your session begins, we encourage you to set an intention. Think about what you want to achieve or focus on during your time with us, whether it's stress relief, pain reduction, emotional balance, or simply a sense of peace. And don't forget to stay hydrated—drinking water before and after your session helps flush out toxins that are released during the healing process.

To support your healing after your session with Inner Focus Healing Energy, we encourage you to rest if your body is asking for it. Allow yourself time to integrate the energy you've received. Continue drinking plenty of water to aid in detoxification, and if you have a mindfulness or meditation practice, this is a wonderful time to deepen those calming effects. We also suggest giving yourself space from stressful situations when possible—you deserve this time to heal.
